Assam reported 31 more COVID-19 deaths and 2640 new positive cases in the last 24 hours. 

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta in a tweet on Monday evening said the new cases were confirmed out of 1,16,542 tests. 

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district registered 197 cases.  

The state’s positivity rate was recorded at 2.27% on Monday, according to the data shared by the health minister. 

Hundreds of patients, who were earlier infected by COVID-19, recovered from the disease on Monday. 

Assam’s COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 94.56% as on Monday, health minister Mahanta informed.

Meanwhile, lockdown is likely to be imposed in four districts in Assam, following high detection of cases from these districts. 

The four districts where lockdown is likely to be announced are: Jorhat, Golaghat, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur.
