Assam has registered 2,371 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 45,275.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the new cases have been detected out of 41,958 COVID19 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The health minister said Assam’s positivity rate stands at 5.65%.

Sarma informed that out of the positive cases, 414 cases have been reported from Kamrup Metro district, Dibrugarh has reported 282 cases, Nagaon has reported 251 cases, and Kamrup Rural district has reported 192 cases.

Assam currently has a total of 12,779 active COVID19 cases while 3 cases migrated from the state.

A total of 32,384 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.

Four more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Monday, taking the state’s death toll to 109.

Sharing the news on his Twitter handle on Monday, health minister Sarma said: “Always painful to lose your own.”

The victims are from Kamrup Metro, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts, the health minister said.

Health minister Sarma said the COVID19 victims are 45-year-old Subrata Patra from Kamrup Metro district, 65-year-old Haren Mahanta from Sivasagar district, 53-year-old Sukendra Kumar Tanti from Tinsukia and 80-year-old Madan Dutta from Dibrugarh district.
