Assam registered 66 new Covid19 cases on Tuesday, taking the state’s positive tally to 2,16,063 cases while the death toll increased to 1,040 with the demise of 2 more patients.

Confirming the news of new cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 status on Tuesday said the new cases were detected out of 23,238 tests.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 0.28%.

“66 cases detected out of 23238 tests conducted today with positivity rate of 0.28%,” health minister Sarma said.

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district has reported 29 cases.

Meanwhile, 87 more patients, who were earlier infected by Covid19, have been discharged on Tuesday after their recovery.

The percentage of the recovered patients in Assam is 97.99%.

Assam currently has 3,300 active Covid19 cases, which is 1.52% of the total positive cases registered in the state so far.

On Tuesday, two more positive patients lost their lives.

Assam’s death rate stands at 0.48%.

Informing about the news of the demise of two more patients due to Covid19 infection, health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet on Tuesday said: “Sad to share the demise of two #COVID patients today.”

The deceased have been identified as Mafida Begum (63) of Sivasagar and Juna Khatun (75) of Dhubri.
