Assam has registered 173 new Covid19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 2,13,171.
Confirming the news in his latest on the state’s Covid19 status on Wednesday night, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the new cases were detected out of 25,891 tests.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 0.67%.
“173 Cases detected out of 25891 tests conducted with positivity rate of 0.67%,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 57 cases.

Meanwhile, 138 more patients, who were earlier infected by Covid19, were discharged on Wednesday after their recovery from the disease, Sarma informed.
The percentage of the recovered cases in Assam is 97.88%.

Assam currently has 3,519 active Covid19 cases, which is 1.65% of the total positive cases registered in Assam so far.
On Wednesday, Assam recorded two more Covid19 deaths, taking the state’s death toll to 983.
The state’s death rate stands at 0.46%.
The patients, who died of Covid19 on Wednesday, were identified as 32-year-old Tunna Raut of Jorhat district and 50-year-old Trailukya Ray of Goalpara district.
