Assam reported 17 more deaths due to Covid19 infection and a total of 1,120 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta in a tweet on Monday evening said the new cases were confirmed out of 1,40,454 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Health minister Mahanta said the overall positivity percentage on Monday stood at 0.80%.
Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district registered 197.
In the last 24 hours, hundreds of other patients, who were earlier infected by the disease, recovered from the disease.

The state’s recovery rate stood at 97.13% on Monday.

On Monday, health minister Mahanta inaugurated the newly-constructed 20-bedded ICU in the Bongaigaon Civil Hospital.
He also inspected the proposed site for the construction of the Bongaigaon medical colleges & hospitals which will be one of the five medical colleges & hospitals to be constructed in five districts of Assam.
During the inspection, he was accompanied by Bongaigaon MLA Phani Bhushan Choudhury, deputy commissioner and the managing director, NHM and the deputy secretary of the health department and officials of the district administration.
Health minister Mahanta also reviewed the functioning of Covid19 testing facilities at the Guwahati airport.
“Smooth and convenient testing for the incoming passengers is the priority. Instructed officials & staff to ensure the same,” the health minister tweeted.
