Assam has registered 12 more Covid19 deaths and 2,384 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
The news has been confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday evening on his Twitter handle,
The Assam health minister informed that of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district alone has reported 883 cases.
The overall positivity percentage of Assam is 3.29%, minister Sarma said.
The new cases were confirmed out of 72,405 tests, he informed.

According to the Covid19 bulletin, released by NHM, Assam on Friday, the patients, who lost their lives due to Covid19 infection on Friday, were from Kamrup Metro – 5, Kokrajhar – 2, Dibrugarh – 1, Hojai – 1, Jorhat – 1, Kamrup Rural – 1 and Udalguri – 1.
Apart from Kamrup Metro, Dibrugarh district reported 154 new cases, Kamrup Rural reported 159 cases and Nagaon district reported 101 cases.
Assam currently has 12,595 active Covid19 cases.
In another tweet, health minister Sarma said: “We’ve vivid memories of incredible passion & commitment of Team MMCH in their fierce fight against #Covid last year.”
While informing that he met doctors and other staff of Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati, which has been turned into a Covid19 hospital, Sarma said: “Today I met doctors, paramedics & staff to understand their preparedness, and readiness of infra for this new wave.”
Sarma, who visited the Guwahati Airport on Friday lauded the staff of NHM, Assam and the health department for managing the Covid screening centre at Guwahati Airport.
“My compliments to dedicated staff of @nhm_assam and Health Dept for exemplary service in managing the Covid screening centre at Guwahati airport, which receives thousands of passengers every day. Visited the airport to inspect facilities,” Assam health minister Sarma tweeted.
