Assam has registered 1,117 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s tally to 22,981.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on the state’s latest COVID19 status said out of the new positive cases, Guwahati alone has reported 515 cases.
“Alert ~ 1117 new #COVID19 ve+ patients in Assam today, with 515 cases from Guwahati City alone,” health minister Sarma tweeted, adding, “Critical for us to stay at home to stay safe!”
Health minister Sarma informed that a total of 15,165 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have recovered from the disease.

On Saturday, a total of 1,060 patients were discharged from various hospitals of the state.
Assam currently has 7,760 active COVID19 cases while 3 cases migrated from the state.
The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 53 persons.
Assam recorded two more COVID19 deaths on Saturday
Confirming the death of the two persons, health minister Sarma said the deceased have been identified as 61-year-old Binandi Ram Kalita from Kamrup Metro and 62-year-old Sushil Shymal from Jorhat.
“Sad News – Two #COVID19 patients ~ Sri Binandi Ram Kalita (61, Kamrup Metro) & Sri Sushil Shymal (62, Jorhat) lost their lives today. I send my prayers & condolences to these two families,” Sarma said in an earlier tweet.
