Assam reports 1,001 new COVID19 cases, state tally rises to 17,807

Assam has registered 1,001 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 17,807.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said out of the 1,001 cases, 513 cases have been reported from Guwahati alone.

“Alert ~ 1001 new #COVID19 ve+ patients in Assam, 513 in Guwahati alone,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Asking the people not to panic, the health minister has requested the people to keep patience and take precautions.

“Keep patience & take required precautions. Don’t panic, for this too shall pass!” the health minister said.

Sarma said Assam currently has 6,348 active COVID19 cases.

Earlier, a total of 11,416 COVID19 were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after they tested negative for the virus.

On Monday, a total of 522 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from hospitals across the state.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 40 people while 3 positive cases have been migrated from the state.

In a tweet at 9.22 pm on Monday, health minister Sarma informed that 4 more persons in Assam have died of COVID19 infections.

The COVID19 victims include 31-year-old Uttam Das, a resident of Golaghat, 62-year-old Keshab Kumar Barua, a resident of Kamrup (M), 30-year-old Kartik Kalita (30) of Kamrup (M) and 56-year-old Dr. Jahan Iqbal Ahmed, an Associate Professor of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Sarma said.
