Assam parliamentary affairs minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said over 6500 rape cases were registered in the state in the last three and a half years.
The minister said this on Saturday at Assam Legislative Assembly in a written reply to a query by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita.
“6,528 cases were registered between April 2016 and October 2019 across Assam,” he said in his reply.
Patowary further informed that 248 rape cases were registered in Guwahati during the period.
