Assam on Tuesday registered 590 fresh COVID-19 cases. 

Of the new 590 new COVID-19 cases, 249 cases have been detected from in and around Guwahati city.

74 cases have been detected in Dibrugarh district, 48 cases in Kamrup-Rural district and 25 cases in Jorhat district. 

With the detection of these 590 fresh COVID-19 cases, Assam’s active cases tally has risen to 2924. 

Moreover, one more person has succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 virus.

The deceased person hails from Kamrup-Metro district.

Assam’s COVID-19 death toll has also risen to 1119, according to the COVID-19 bulletin released by the Assam Health Department. 

Assam’s COVID-19 cases have been on a gradual rise since April 1. 

The COVID-19 cases in Assam is likely rise further with the Bihu festivities being celebrated across the State. 

However, the Assam Government recently released a fresh set of guidelines for Rongali Bihu and other festivals, in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State. 

The Assam Government rolled out a fresh set of norms for “public gathering” during the Rongali Bihu celebrations and other festivals like Ramadan, Ram Navami, etc.

On the other hand, to keep a check on the spread of COVID-19 in the State, the Assam Government has ordered COVID-19 testing of air travellers upon arrival in any airports in Assam. 

The air travellers will have to undertake both RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival in any airport in Assam. 

However, transit passengers need not undertake the COVID-19 testing.
