Assam has registered 47 more new COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday taking the State’s total to 595.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID-19 status said 21 are from Golaghat, four in Lakhimpur, eight in Morigaon, three in Goalpara 3, one each in Hojai and MMCH 1, two in Karbi Anglong , and five in Nagaon.

The health minister informed that swabs of the people are being collected for testis before they are sent for quarantine.

Earlier, a total of 62 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Assam after their recovery.

On Monday, five patients were discharged after they tested negative for COVID-19 twice.

While three patients were discharged from hospital in Guwahati, two patients were discharged from the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) after their recovery.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of four persons so far in Assam while three cases migrated from the State.

There are 526 active cases in the State as of Tuesday.
