Assam has registered 26 more COVID19 positive cases taking the total to 256.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said this is the “biggest one-time spike” in COVID19 positive cases registered in the state.
The health minister said all the infected patients are from the quarantine centre at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.
“Alert ~ In the biggest one-time spike in cases, 26 cases are confirmed #COVID19 +. They are all from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre,” health minister Sarma said in a tweet at 7.45 pm on Friday.
With the new cases, the active COVID19 cases registered in Assam has increased to 195.
Earlier, a total of 54 COVID19 patients were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 4 persons in Assam while 3 cases migrated from the state.
“Total cases 256. Recovered 54. Active cases 195. Deaths 04. Migrated 03,” Sarma added.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data, the number of COVID19 positive cases recorded in India so far is 1,18,226 while 3,584 people have succumbed to the deadly disease.
