Assam registered four more COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday.

They are Safikul Rahman (60) of Hidayatpur in Guwahati, Ramani Mazumdar (60) of Patacharkuchi in Barpeta, Utpal Kumar Chaliha (75) of Kahilipara in Guwahati and Hari Prasad Mandal (68) of Lalganesh in Guwahati.

All the four patients were admitted to the COVID ICU at the Gauhati Medical and Hospital (GMCH).

All the four patients passed away between 2 am and 5 am on Wednesday morning.

This was informed by state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his official Twitter handle.

Sarma tweeted:

‘My heartfelt condolences to families and relatives of four more victims of #COVID19.

 These are trying times, and we all must adhere to guidelines being repeatedly given – wearing mask, social distance and not going out unless very important.’

The minister further informed that all the deceased were on invasive ventilation.

They had severe pneumonia, urosepsis and septic shock.

Sarma expressed his condolences to the family of all the four victims.

With these four deaths, the total COVID-19 toll in the State has gone up to 20.

Earlier, the State had witnessed 16 deaths till Tuesday night.
