Assam is inching closer to the 8000 mark as far as its COVID-19 positive cases tally is concerned.

On Tuesday 41 new COVID-19 positive cases have been detected.

With this the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has gone up to 7835.

Among the newly detected cases, 18 are from Sonitpur, six are from Jorhat, five from Kamrup(Metro), three each from Lakhimpur, Nagaon and Barpeta, two from Karbi Anglong, and one from Dhemaji.

This was informed by state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

At present there are 2488 active cases in the State.

Notably, 5333 number of persons have completely recovered from the deadly virus and were discharged from hospitals across the State.

The State has so far witnessed 11 COVID-19 related deaths.
