Due to technical error of Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT), re-polling has been scheduled for No. 136 Polling Station (PS) of Upper Dillaji LP School under Diphu LA segment on April 24 under No. 3 Autonomous District (ST) parliamentary constituency.
The polling will start at 7 in the morning and end at 5 pm evening.
Mukul Kumar Saikia, Karbi Anglong DC-cum-RO of No. 3 Autonomous District (ST) parliamentary constituency and district election officer for the Diphu election district, during a press conference at the DC conference hall here on Monday, said, “In No. 136 Polling Station of Upper Dillaji LP School under Diphu LA segment of No. 3 Autonomous District (ST) parliamentary constituency, after 28 votes were cast out of total 688 on the polling day of April 18, problem with VVPAT machine occurred. “
The VVPAT slip in the drop box did not come out.
The first VVPAT machine was replaced with another one as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
With the second machine, a mock poll was conducted by casting one vote against each of the five candidates and one NOTA vote. But the VVPAT slip did not drop.
“The matter was informed to ECI. The ECI then instructed to conduct re-polling in the said polling station,” the deputy commissioner said.
The re-poll will be conducted on April 24 from morning 7 am to evening 5 pm. On the counting day i.e. on May 23 all results have to be received from Control Unit. If in case the Control Unit shows some error, then counting of VVPAT slips will be done.
