In a sensational incident, four inmates of Lakhimpur District Jail fled from their captivity on Friday night.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Rahul Daimary, Pranab Das, Papu Bania and Loknath Pegu.

While, there are several cases of bike theft against Rahul Daimary, Pranab Das and Papu Bania, Loknath Pegu is a rape accused.
The authorities of Lakhimpur district Jail came to know about the escape at around 2.30 am on Saturday and an alarm was raised after that.
It is learnt that the escaped quartet of prisoners sneaked out between 11 pm to 2 am.

The incident has created a sensation in the district as the accused were accused of serious crimes and the escapade has exposed the slackness by the jail authorities.
Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur Police have started a massive manhunt following the incident.
