Guwahati: West Assam Milk Producers’ Co-operative Union Ltd (WAMUL), known under the Purabi Dairy brand, announced a partnership with the Assam government to operate a new dairy plant in Dhemaji district.
The agreement, signed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Dairy Development (DoDD), allows WAMUL to manage the DoDD’s existing 5,000-litre daily capacity plant.

This collaboration is expected to benefit both farmers and consumers. Purabi Dairy anticipates the new plant will open up fresh avenues for dairy farmers in the region by providing them with new markets and opportunities for growth through training programs.
“This MoU represents a significant step forward for the dairy sector in upper Assam,” said WAMUL Managing Director Sameer Kr Parida.

He stated, “By operating the Dhemaji plant, we will ensure greater accessibility of Purabi milk and dairy products throughout the region.”
The Dhemaji plant is slated to begin operations soon, providing a much-needed boost to the development of the upper Assam dairy industry.
