Assam Minister of State for Power (Independence charge) Topon Kumar Gogoi on Sunday inaugurated the 10th Badousa Cup Inter-club Football Competition 2018 in Majuli.
The inaugural programme was organized at the Garmur Mini Stadium in Majuli island.
In the inaugural match at Majuli, Moran Town Club defeated Majuli FC by 2-0 goals.
The inaugural match at Garmur Mini Stadium was kicked off amid cultural programmes where a large number of artistes performed.
Apart from the State Power Minister, the inaugural function was also attended by the Deputy Commissioner (In-charge) of Majuli, Naren Das, Superintendent of Police Hitesh Chandra Roy and Assam Football Association general secretary Ankur Dutta besides others.
This year, the expenditure for the international level soccer competition has been fixed at Rs 1.60 crore.
To mark the event, the organisers would also publish a multi-lingual souvenir titled ‘Badousa’.
According to the organisers the 22-team competition would be held in seven different venues – Majuli, Tinsukia, Dumduma, Sadiya, Digboi, Duliajan and Margherita.
On Sunday, the game was simultaneously held at Majuli and Sadiya.
The competition has also been joined by Sachal Youth Club from Nepal and Saif Sporting Club from Bangladesh.
The 22-team soccer competition will have Assam’s top team like Oil India Limited, Assam Rifles and Assam Police.
There will also be teams like ISL outfit Jamshedpur FC and last year’s champion Gorkha Training Centre.
The champion team will be presented an amount of Rs One lakh while the runners-up team will receive an amount of Rs 50,000.
