Assam posts another big jump in Covid-19 cases, Guwahati worst hit

Assam on Monday reported another major increase in new Covid-19 cases, registering 2, 198 fresh infections, with 760 of them from Kamrup (M) district alone.

The state also reported two deaths and the overall positivity percentage went up to 4.49%.

Assam has a COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.71 per cent.

In Guwahati, which has been witnessing the highest daily cases in the state, most people are being allowed home quarantine.

However, at 6.47%, the positivity rate in Kamrup (Metro) is almost double the state’s latest daily positivity rate of 3.73%.

As per the Saturday morning report, there were 319 Covid patients admitted to GMCH.

In the GMCH emergency ward, 92 patients were admitted, whereas 11 were in the ICU unit.

Even though the night curfew starting time has been advanced to 10 pm, the activities in public places, especially commercial areas in towns and the city remain unaffected.
