Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that a portal will be launched in February for the women who are yet to pay off their loans from microfinance institutions in Assam.
The Chief Minister said, “The government is taking initiatives for the microfinance loans and plan on paying the loans for 11-12 lakh loans initially.”
He informed that 11-12 lakh women who have been paying off their loans on time will be granted Rs 25 thousand for the loan waiver while others who are not being able to pay their loans will have to appeal through the portal.
The CM added that the first 11-12 lakh will be selected based on their payment schedules directly but others will have to appeal on the portal and fill in some criteria.
The portal will start from February 1 and the women will have to put the appeal directly.
The CM further asked the people in the state to let him know about instances of bribery by government officials to him through social media directly.
The women will be provided with an one-time incentive of Rs 25 thousand or outstanding balance, whichever is less.
“This is an incentive for them to continue maintaining a good credit score”, the CM said.
