Guwahati: The Bajali Assembly constituency is set for a closely fought contest between the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), with both parties expressing confidence of victory.

AJP candidate Dilip Baruah, who previously won a Zilla Parishad seat as an Independent, is banking on his grassroots connect and local support base. He has expressed confidence that voters in Bajali will back him in the Assembly election.

Facing him is AGP candidate Dharmeswar Roy, who is contesting with the backing of the AGP-BJP alliance. Roy has said that the alliance enjoys the trust of voters in the constituency and is optimistic about the outcome.

Observers note that both candidates command considerable support in the area, making the contest evenly poised. Campaigning has intensified, with both sides actively reaching out to voters in the run-up to polling.

A significant section of the electorate, however, is yet to publicly indicate its preference. These undecided or โ€œsilentโ€ voters are expected to play a crucial role in determining the final result.

With polling approaching, Bajali is shaping up for a tight electoral battle, with the outcome likely to hinge on last-mile voter mobilisation.
