Guwahati: Sewli Brahma Mohilary on Sunday filed her nomination papers from the Kokrajhar Legislative Assembly constituency, accompanied by a large turnout of supporters in a show of political strength.

Mohilary, the Bodoland Peopleโ€™s Front (BPF) candidate and wife of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary, submitted her papers at the office of the Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner.

Ahead of the filing, a procession was taken out through Kokrajhar town, drawing a sizeable gathering of party workers and supporters. The rally reflected heightened political activity in the constituency as the election campaign gathers pace.

Speaking to media after filing her nomination, Mohilary expressed confidence about her prospects, indicating that she expects a favourable mandate.

She said her decision to enter electoral politics is guided by a commitment to public welfare and regional development, with a particular focus on womenโ€™s empowerment in the Bodoland Territorial Region.

The Kokrajhar seat, which falls within the BTC area, is expected to witness a keen contest as parties intensify their outreach ahead of polling.
