Ahead of the 2021 Assam Assembly polls, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) said on Saturday of launching a new political party soon, dissolving its earlier political outfit Gana Mukti Sangram Asom soon.

KMSS president Bhasco D Saikia, interacting with the media, said the organisation has already prepared the agenda and constitution of the party.

Saikia informed that the party will nominate candidates in the upcoming election and for this purpose.

He further informed that the KMSS will sit for discussion with all the organisations with which it collaborated to continue the movement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

He further informed that the new party will have a new name and that it’s earlier political outfit Gana Mukti Sangram Asom, launched in 2015, would be dissolved soon.

“If Akhil Gogoi comes out from jail by the year-end, then we will project him as our chief ministerial candidate,” Saikia said.

“However, if he fails in the legal battle, we will then chalk out a different strategy,” Saikia added.

Speaking further Saikia said, “It will be a purely regional political outfit that will represent the people of every caste, religion and tribe of Assam.”

“The new outfit will not compromise in any issue related to the interests of Assamese people,” the KMSS president further added.
