In two separate crackdowns, police in Assam’s Tinsukia seized huge quantity of narcotic substances on Tuesday.
Duliajan police on Tuesday conducted a raid with the help of Tinsukia police and seized huge consignment of drugs.
The police also arrested four persons including a woman at Digboi in Tinsukia district in connection with the seizure.
The arrested persons have been identified as – Biju Gur(24), Savita Balmiki(23), Santanu Bora(25) and Papu Ali(19).

Police have seized 25 kg of ganja (cannabis) and heroin from their possession.
The heroin were kept in small packets.
“We have also seized a car bearing registration no ML 210B 8104 and four mobile sets from their possession. We have started our investigation and sent the four drug peddlers in Dibrugarh jail,” said a police official.
The market value of ganja and heroin is worth Rs 5 lakh.
In another crackdown, Tinsukia police seized 1kg Opium from Philobari area of Tinsukia district on Tuesday.
Talking to this correspondent over phone, Tinsukia SP Debojit Deori said, “War on Drugs is our continuous process. Today, in two separate incidents, huge quantity of narcotic substances was seized from Digboi and Philobari areas of Tinsukia. Our crackdown against drugs will continue.”
On the other hand, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, Tinsukia unit on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding rising cases of Opium trade in some parts of Tinsukia district.
