Guwahati: The Assam Police recovered a large cache of explosives and firearms in separate operations across the state.

In a joint raid conducted on Saturday in Cachar district’s Bhangarpar area, a police team along with security forces seized a significant amount of explosive materials.

The raid targeted the residence of a suspect identified as Mushtaq Ahmed.

While security forces recovered 155 gelatin sticks, 150 detonators, and a fake pistol, Ahmed managed to escape.

Police are currently searching for the suspect.

In a separate operation, Assam Police unearthed a significant cache of assault rifles, handmade pistols, and revolvers in Chirang district.

This recovery took place near the Runikhata area bordering Bhutan.

The seized items included two handmade AK series rifles, a revolver with ammunition, walkie-talkies, and receivers.
