Police recovered almost 11,000 litres of condensate oil from Barekuri area of upper Assam’s Tinsukia district. 

According to police sources, oil thieves stole the condensate from an Oil India pipe line by damaging the pipeline.

Over 200 gallons of condensate were seized by the police during a joint operation by the Tinsukia police and officials of OIL. 

Oil India official Jagjit Kumar said, “We got an input that oil thieves have been stealing condensate after damaging Oil India pipe lines. We got the names of the persons who were involved in the stealing of condensates. We have field an FIR at Tinsukia police station regarding the incident.”

“A gang of oil thieves are involved in the stealing and they are managing the whole nexus with the support of local people. Stealing oil by damaging pipelines is not a new thing. Earlier, many oil thieves from the area were involved in such nefarious activities,” said a source. 

Tinsukia SP Debojit Deuri said, “We will soon arrest the oil thieves who are involved in stealing of condensate oil from Oil India pipelines. We have seized more than 200 gallons of condensate oil and vehicles seized which were used to transport the stolen condensate.”
