Guwahati: In a swift midnight operation aimed at tightening border security, Assam Police successfully pushed back six Bangladeshi nationals and ten Rohingyas through Gate 39 along the Indo-Bangladesh border at around 00:30 hrs on Friday.
Officials said the coordinated exercise was part of the state’s intensified efforts to curb illegal infiltration and ensure that undocumented entrants do not remain within Assam’s territory.
In a post on X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the precision of the operation, writing:
“Another smooth operation!
Six Bangladesh nationals and ten Rohingyas safely sent back through Gate 39 at 00:30 hrs, as clean and precise as a Mission Impossible scene.
Assam’s borders stay secure, our team stays vigilant, and no multiverse anomaly detected.”
Authorities confirmed that the individuals were intercepted earlier this week during routine checks across strategic pockets of Lower Assam.
Following verification and procedural documentation, they were escorted to the designated border gate in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF) for formal repatriation.
Senior officials said the state has significantly strengthened surveillance mechanisms in recent months, with enhanced night patrols, technology-backed monitoring, and inter-agency coordination.
“Preventing illegal infiltration remains a top priority. Our teams are alert 24×7,” a senior officer said.
The Assam government also maintained that robust border management is essential to safeguarding demographic stability and national security in the region.
