The family members of Nath terming the case as ‘abatement of suicide’ lodged a complaint against Borkataki seeking an investigation into his death.

Earlier too, a section of locals of Sissiborgaon filed written complaint before Dhemaji Superintendent of Police alleging that IC Borkataki misused his power and manipulated criminal cases for his personal gain.

Dhemaji superintendent of police (SP) VV Rakesh Reddy said an investigation into the incident has been initiated and an Additional SP is carrying out the inquiry.

“Borkataki has been kept in police reserve for the sake of free and fair inquiry. A case has been registered against Borkataki in Silapathar PS and departmental action would be initiated if found guilty,”said SP Reddy at Dhemaji on Tuesday.

The SP further said that the Deputy SP (HQ) of the district has been assigned to inquire into the public allegations levelled against IC Borkataki.

Senior sub-inspector of police Mohendra Saikia, who was serving as second officer at Silapathar police station, has been posted to Sissiborgaon outpost as its new in-charge.
