The arrested corrupt deputy inspector general (DIG) of Assam Police, Raunak Ali Hazarika was released from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday as he has “no illness”.
According to the GMCH authorities, DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika has no health issues and is fine.

From the hospital, the cops took him back to the custody of the police.
Corrupt DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika was admitted to the GMCH on October 7 by the police as he complained of heart-related issues.
Suspended DIG of Assam Police, Raunak Ali Hazarika, was arrested by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell on October 5 from his residence in Guwahati for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The senior IPS officer was arrested by a team of CM’s Vigilance Cell team led by SP Rosie Kalita from his residence at Rupkonwar Path in the Hengrabari area of Guwahati.
Hazarika, who was serving as the DIG (border), was suspended in July this year for allegedly going abroad on several occasions since 2011 without taking necessary permission.
Hazarika traveled to 9 countries including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Dubai, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Bangkok and Thailand without the necessary permission.
During the operation, foreign currencies from Bangladesh, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Japan and Indonesia were recovered from Hazarika’s residence.
In addition, a large number of insurance policies were also recovered during the operation.
SP Rosie Kalita said Raunak Ali Hazarika has three properties in Guwahati as well as Shimla.
At Dhirenpara, Downtown area and Hengarabari in Guwahati, Hazarika has three large buildings and a few acres of land.
He also owns a restaurant called Kothi in Shimla.
