The police on Monday destroyed over 10,000 litres of illicit liquor at different areas in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

The police are continuing with their crackdown against illicit liquor in the district.

Different police teams conducted raids at Moran, Bamunbari, Chabua, Tingrai, Joypur, Sasoni, Barbaruah and seized huge quantity of country made liquor.

Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said, “We will continue our operation against illicit liquor sale in the district. Today, over 10,000 litres of illicit liquor and 35 cases of Indian made foreign liquor were seized.”

On Sunday the police also seized over 7000 litres of country made liquor from different places of the district.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that due to illegal sale of country made liquor in some areas there has been a subsequent rise Covid-19 cases.
