The Tinsukia Police has arrested two persons in Margherita for allegedly being involved in drug peddling in the area.
A police source said that the two were arrested based on a specific input about the presence of some suspected persons in a house at the Assam-Arunachal border.
A raid was conducted based on the input and the police succeeded in recovering some amount of contraband drugs.
The source said that the recovered drug has been suspected to be brown sugar and this is being verified.
The people who were detained by the people have been identified as Tarun and another woman.

They will be forwarded to judicial custody after the legal proceedings.
Nagaon Police earlier arrested 9 more drug peddlers including women during 4 separate operations.
Sharing pictures of the arrested drug peddlers, Nagaon Police said its Anti-Narcotics Squad carried out the serial operations in Nagaon and Rupahihat areas.
It informed that a huge amount of drugs, meant for distribution, were recovered by the Anti-Narcotics Squad.

“9 arrested in 4 serial operations led by our Anti-Narcotics Squad against Drugs in Nagaon and Rupahihat areas. Huge amount of drugs meant for distribution recovered,” Nagaon Police tweeted.
