Tinsukia: Police in Tinsukia district of Assam have arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged murder of Aditya Bhumij, a 20-year-old student from the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), who was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon.

The accused, Abered Chetri, Gaurav Kumar and Ved Pait, are residents of a tea garden area in Margherita, Assam.

They were taken into custody on Monday (June 04).

According to Margherita sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Shambhavi Mishra, the incident occurred following a confrontation between two groups.

“There was a fight between two groups, and the victim was alone when these youths allegedly stabbed him with a machete,” Mishra stated.

The altercation began on Sunday (June 03) evening when Aditya Bhumij and his friends had an argument with the accused.

About an hour later, the assailants returned with a machete.

Aditya was alone, walking home, when they attacked him, stabbing him multiple times.

Aditya’s family reported that he left home early in the evening and failed to return by 10 PM.

Concerned, they started searching for him and eventually found him lying severely injured near a forested area.

The police investigation is ongoing, and the community is reeling from the shock of this violent act.

The arrests mark a significant step in seeking justice for Aditya Bhumij.
