Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, May 26, said that the stateโ€™s next phase of development will be driven by youth, with a focus on expanding higher education and professional institutions across all districts.

In a post on social media platform X, he said every district in Assam should have three key institutions to support youth development and opportunities.

He added that his vision includes one medical college, one engineering college, and one university in each district under a โ€œone district, one institutionโ€ framework.

Sarma said the initiative aims to strengthen access to education and create better opportunities for the stateโ€™s youth.

The statement comes as the Assam government continues to prioritise expansion of education and healthcare infrastructure.

Assam has launched and proposed several medical colleges, universities, and engineering institutes across different districts in recent years to improve access to higher education and professional training.
