Amid many horrific visuals that have emerged from the site of clash during an eviction drive at Sipajhar in Assam’s Darrang district, a video of a ‘photographer’, or one may say, “a man with a camera” has sent shockwaves across the state.
The so-called ‘photographer’, in one of the videos, can be seen jumping on the dead body of a protestor, who was shot down by the police.

In the video, the ‘photographer’ was also seen throwing hard punches on the protestor, who reportedly died after being shot at by the police.
According to reports, the ‘photographer’ was being chased by the protestor with a stick, following which the policemen opened fire and incapacitated the protestor.
The protestor was later battered by police. The ‘photographer’ also joined the police and hit the incapacitated protestor.

At least three persons have reportedly succumbed to bullet injuries while several others including at least eight police personnel sustained injures, when a demonstration against an eviction drive at Dholpur village under Sipajhar revenue circle suddenly turned violent and police resorted to firing to disperse the crowd.
On Thursday morning, when officials of the Darrang district administration supported by a huge contingent of armed security personnel reached Siajhar-Dholpur area to carry out an eviction drive, the locals protested.
The protest soon turned ugly, as demonstrators attacked policemen and other district administration officials with sticks and other sharp weapons.
With situation going out of hands, the police resorted to lathi-charge. However, with situation still not in control and being attacked, the police resorted to opening fire, resulting in death of three persons.
Over 500 families were evicted on Thursday.
