Bajali: In a gesture promoting environmental consciousness ahead of his transfer, Bajali District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Das, distributed tree saplings to visitors at his official residence, encouraging residents to plant and nurture trees.
A number of residents and well-wishers visited the District Commissionerโs residence to meet him before his departure from the district. On the occasion, Das handed over saplings to those present and urged them to plant and care for the young trees, underlining the importance of preserving nature and maintaining a green environment.
Das, who is widely regarded by locals as a nature enthusiast, had frequently encouraged residents to protect the natural surroundings of the district during his tenure.
Residents said he was particularly fond of the pond located near his official residence and had often requested people not to fish there so that the natural ecosystem could remain undisturbed.
Many locals appreciated the gesture, saying the saplings would serve as a lasting reminder of the outgoing District Commissionerโs commitment to environmental conservation.
The distribution of saplings also became a symbolic farewell message from Das, inspiring residents to continue protecting nature and promoting greenery even after his departure from the district.
