Assam: ONGC Assam Asset’s financial aid for meritorious BPL students

ONGC Assam Asset Manger-cum-Executive Director Suresh D Maskey on Friday inaugurated the newly-renovated building of Sati Radhika Smriti Kala Kendra, one of the socio-cultural organizations of Sivasagar district situated at Baliaghat Tini Ali on the outskirt of Gaurisagar in the district.

The building was inaugurated by Maskey was renovated at a cost of Rs 7 lakh under the financial assistance from ONGC Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) component fund in the year of 2017-18.

In the function, 48 meritorious students hailing from the SC community under BPL category were provided cheque for Rs 10,000 each as financial assistance from the ONGC SC/ST component fund for their achievement in the HSLC Examination by securing 60 per cent and above marks.

Addressing a gathering during a programme organized on the occasion, ONGC Executive Director Suresh D Maskey highlighted the social development activities like acute drinking water facilities, education (ONGC Super-30), sanitation, etc.  through ONGC CSR programme in the operational areas of ONGC.

Maskey also urged upon the people to take the opportunities provided by the ONGC.

The other dignitaries who attended the function were Sanjay Goel, general manager (HR), Assam Asset, Pulin Hazarika, president, Association of Scientific and Technical Officers(ASTRO), Assam Asset, Jagat Hazarika, secretary, All India Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Employees Welfare Association (AISC STEWA), Assam Asset, Padum Kr Saikia and Rajib Dutta, president and secretary, Gaurisagar Press Club, Satyaki Pal, general manager, Corporate Communication, Assam Asset, Prof Indreswar Das, HoD, Department of History, JB College, Jorhat.

Meanwhile, Raktimjyoti Das, a student of Cotton State University and Trinayan Das, a student of ONGC-Super-30, were also felicitated for being able to get admitted in IIT-Delhi and IIT-Guwahati.

A symposium on the topic of ‘the ideology of Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar and women empowerment’ was also held on the occasion.

Prof Indreswar Das, in his speech, highlighted the ideology of Dr .R Ambedar in present day context. He also dwelt at length the key role of women empowerment and various schemes of the Union Government for empowering the women community.

Earlier, Kesha Kanta Das anchored the programme while Biren Das, president, managing committee, Sati Radhika Smriti Kala Kendra and former ONGC official delivered the welcome address. In the afternoon, a play on ‘Sati Radhika’ was also performed. The day-long programme concluded with the performance of ‘Horichandra Upaikhyan Yatra’ by the artistes of Sati Radhika Smriti Kala Kendra.
