On Friday a person was killed in a motorcycle accident in Cachar’s Jirighat.
The deceased person was identified as Jayanta Das of Jirighat.

Another person with him was also severely injured in the accident.
The injured person was identified as Dipankar Karmakar of Jirighat.

As per locals, the accident took place after the motorcycle they were travelling with went out of control and crashed on the street.
Das had received severe injuries on his head and due to suspected internal injuries died on the spot.
While Karmakar was taken to a hospital in a critical condition.
Over-speeding has been termed to be the reason behind the accident and it is a major reason for most road accidents in Assam.

There is no proper mechanism in the state to monitor over-speeding.
Earlier this week, two youth in Hojai’s Doboka were killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening.
The deceased were identified as Saidul Islam and Faruk Ahmed.
