Energy Conservation Week

Energy Conservation Week : The NTPC Bongaigaon at Assam’s Salakati has started week-long celebrations of the Energy Conservation Week.

NTPC as a company has always been at the forefront in reducing energy intensity in our country by optimising energy demand and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) which are responsible for global warming and climate change.

Celebrating the Iconic Week of Energy Conservation starting from Wednesday, NTPC Bongaigaon’s Energy Efficiency Management Group (EEMG) started the day with various activities including pep talks, walkathons, pledge by employees, contractual workers at various areas of the plant.

The Energy Conservation Awareness Campaign has been coordinated by Energy Efficient Management Group of NTPC Bongaigaon.

A walkathon was organized on Wednesday at NTPC Bongaigaon in the presence of Subrata Mandal, ED, NTPC Bongaigaon, T. Ravinder, GM (O&M), Umesh Singh, GM (Maintenance and FM), Susovan Das, AGM (EEMG), departmental heads and members of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club.

Representatives of various unions and associations also joined the walkathon to create awareness of energy conservation.

Later, Mandal administered the energy conservation oath to the participants of the walkathon and employees of the station.

Pamphlets on various tips of energy conservation were also distributed on the occasion.

In the plant, T. Ravinder, GM (O&M) administered the oath to the engineers of the plant and spoke on various steps towards conservation.

The main attraction of the day was the street drama conducted by NTPC Bongaigaon in association with the NSS wing of Central Wing of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar.

Young engineering students of various streams performed the half an hour play in the busy market area of Salakati, Kokrajhar.

 

The skit primarily focused on various aspects of energy conservation including highlighting NTPC’s role in the preservation and restoration of natural resources.

Highlighting the thumb-rule of Re-cycle, Re-Use and Re-Invent, the street drama which was performed in local language drew attention among the public.

Jharna Basumutary, Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) chairperson, Jodunath Basumutary, vice-chairperson, Village Council Development Committee (VCDC), JD H Basumatary, programme coordinator, NSS-CIT, Kokrajhar, Susovan Das, AGM (EEMG), departmental heads and employees of the power station were present on the occasion.

As part of the Energy Conservation Week celebrations, various events are lined up by the department for the entire week including competitions among nearby colleges, street plays etc in various areas of Kokrajhar.
