The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the students’ wing of Congress, came out victorious in the election of the Postgraduate Students’ Union (PGSU) of Gauhati University by winning 5 posts.
The 5 posts, which were won by the NSUI in the election include the posts of General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary.

The results of the Postgraduate Students’ Union of Gauhati University were declared on Wednesday.
The NSUI candidates in important posts had a laudable victory.
While NSUI candidate Biki Sarma won the seat of General Secretary, Rashmi Kalita won the post of Assistant General Secretary.

NSUI candidate Bishnub Medhi won the post of Social Secretary, Ganesh Bodo was declared winner of the post of Games Secretary and Pratim Dev Sarma was declared Literary Secretary.
“All the NSUI candidates were felicitated at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah,” said Bobbeeta Sharma, chairperson, media department of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.
According to the results, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) candidate Hemen Kalita won the post of president while the post of vice-president was won by Nabadeep Borgohain of Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), the student wing of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).
Bhaswati Devi of Asom Chatra Parishad (ACP), the students’ wing of Asom Gana Parishad, won the post of Debate & Magazine Secretary.
The post of Cultural Secretary was won by ACP’s Disha Sarma.
The post of Major Games Secretary was won by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyapith Parishad (ABVP) candidate Kharamdao Basumatary.
The post of Minor games Secretary was won by AASU candidate Bikram Hazarika.
The post of Bodybuilding Secretary was won by Pallab Hazarika while the post of Music Secretary was won by AASU’s Pratyashi Kalita.
Mun Mallik of the ABVP won the post of Girls’ Common Room.
Abid Arman Tapadar of ACP won the post of Boys’ ‘ Common Room.
Of the total posts, NSUI won 5, AASU – 4; ACP – 3, ABVP – 2 and SMSS won 1 post.
