At a time when the NSCN(IM) has been in ceasefire with the central government, a cadre of the outfit surrendered on Wednesday in the Tinsukia district.

The NSCN(IM) cadre surrendered in the presence of Assam Police and Indian Army officials at Lekhapani under Margherita sub-division in Tinsukia district.

The militant has been identified as Samiran Chetia, a resident of No 3 Rampur village in Jagun under Margherita sub-division.

The militant claimed that he was in the NSCN(IM) headquarters at Hebron, 35 km from Dimapur.

On Tuesday, an NSCN(K-Y) cadre, identified as Ganshai Pansa, surrendered before the Longding district administration and police in Arunachal Pradesh.

Ganshai Pansa is a resident of Votnu village in Pongchao circle under Longding district.

The 52-year-old cadre joined the militant in 1992.
