The 10th death anniversary of Ali Hyder, one of the greatest playwrights and theatre personality of the twentieth century Assam would be organized at his home town in North Lakhimpur on May 5 and 6 next. This has been announced by Nata Sainik, the amateur theatre group formed by the late playwright.
This was announced in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The president of Nata Sainik, Ghana Dutta and secretary Amanul Hussain said in the press release that the two days remembrance programme would start on the morning of May 5 in which various competitions for young children and students would be held. The second and final day of the programme would consist of a commemorating talk followed by a cultural function.
In another development, the Nata Sainik took a strong exception in naming a drama school in Nagaon with the same nomenclature. The president and secretary of Nata Sainik through a press release expressed its displeasure at the naming of a drama school with the same name by saying that the one formed by late Ali Hyder in North Lakhimpur in 1988 and it had been a registered organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and had been organizing programmes since its inception. The press release also asked the concerned organization to change its name to avoid any mismatch and misunderstanding in the future.
