North Lakhimpur divisional forest officer (DFO) Jadav Chandra Nath and assistant conservator of forest (ACF) Jasimuddin Ahmed were arrested by the anti-corruption sleuths in a bribery case on Monday.
It may be mentioned here that Nath and Ahmed were arrested while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from one Md Zamiruddin of Gohan Dooni in Bihpuria.

The duo was caught red-handed by anti-corruption branch officials.
The bribe money of Rs 50,000 was in two envelopes carrying Rs 25,000 each and the envelopes were recovered from Nath’s possession.
The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.85 lakh from the complainant to return his detained tractor and timber.

The bribe money was negotiated at Rs 50,000 as advance with an assurance to pay the remaining Rs 1.35 lakh at the time of releasing the tractor and timber.
