Manash Jyoti Baruah, an Assam-based journalist associated with the Mirror of Assam news portal, has been called by the NIA in a CAA-related case.
Baruah informed that an Additional Superintendent of Police who identified himself as DR Singh has summoned him to NIA’s Sonapur office.
Baruah informed that he was asked to reach the NIA office at 12 noon on Friday.
“I knew from the case number that it was related to the arrest of (peasant leader) Akhil Gogoi and the anti-CAA protests that claimed a few lives last year,” The Hindu reported quoting Baruah.
The National Investigative Agency (NIA) had earlier summoned Right To Information activist Bhaben Handique to Sonapur on May 9 in the same case involving anti-CAA protestors.
