The Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) has undertaken massive sanitization at the Guwahati Railway Station in Assam’s Guwahati after a lot of passengers tested positive for Covid-19 on their arrival in the state.
The new mutant strains of the novel coronavirus have arrived in the state via passengers coming from outside the state.
This has prompted the railway authorities to undertake the sanitation activities as the Guwahati Railway Station receives a huge crowd of passengers every day.
In Assam 2,236 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, with the disease claiming 14 more lives.

Kamrup (Metro) has the highest positive cases, with 815 people testing positive in the corresponding period.
The NFR is also penalizing passengers not following Covid-19 protocols.
People in trains and railway stations who are not wearing masks are being fined Rs 500 by the railway authorities.
