Assam newborn death
Residents and family members said similar incidents had occurred at the hospital previously, but no action had been taken by authorities.

Guwahati: A newborn died in Assam’s Sribhumi, triggering public outrage after the family accused Lifeline Hospital in Kanishail of medical negligence.

Police and paramilitary forces were deployed to maintain order.

According to the family, a six-month pregnant woman from Bairigram was admitted to the hospital after experiencing heavy bleeding.

The attending doctor reportedly consulted a gynaecologist over the phone, who advised admission.

The woman continued to bleed, even after admission, and her relatives claim that their repeated warnings to the hospital staff were ignored.

As her condition worsened, the gynaecologist allegedly instructed the administration to administer an injection.

The patient was then taken for a sonography, during which the baby was reportedly delivered dead inside the ambulance.

The womanโ€™s husband alleged that the newbornโ€™s death resulted from medical negligence.

He also stated that hospital personnel avoided questions from journalists, raising further public concern.

Residents and family members said similar incidents had occurred at Lifeline Hospital previously, but no action had been taken by authorities.

Police confirmed that the situation has been brought under control, while calls for a full investigation and strict action against those responsible have increased.
