Guwahati: Nameri Tiger Reserve in Assam has secured Conservation Assured | Tiger Standards (CA|TS) Approved status, marking a major milestone in the stateโ€™s tiger conservation and wildlife management efforts.

The recognition was granted on September 10, 2026, after Nameri successfully underwent the prescribed assessment process and received approval from the CA|TS International Executive Committee.

With Nameri attaining the status, all four tiger reserves in Assam-Kaziranga, Manas, Orang and Nameri are now CA|TS Approved.

CA|TS, or Conservation Assured | Tiger Standards, is an international framework used to evaluate the effectiveness of tiger reserve management and protection. The assessment covers several aspects, including wildlife protection, habitat management, scientific monitoring, administration, community participation and overall conservation practices.

The approval recognises the sustained efforts to strengthen protection mechanisms, scientific monitoring, habitat management and conservation planning at Nameri Tiger Reserve. It also highlights the contribution of forest officials, frontline personnel and other stakeholders involved in safeguarding the reserve.

Located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, Nameri is an important component of Assamโ€™s tiger conservation landscape. The reserve also maintains ecological connectivity with forests in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh and the broader Brahmaputra Valley.

The Field Director of Nameri Tiger Reserve said the CA|TS recognition reflects sustained efforts to improve conservation and management practices across the reserve.

The achievement places all four of Assamโ€™s tiger reserves under the CA|TS Approved framework, marking a significant step towards strengthening the protection and long-term management of the stateโ€™s tiger habitats.
