Assam: Mystery shrouds death of a tea garden executive in Cachar

The death of a senior assistant manager of Lallong tea garden under Lakhipur sub-division of Cachar district of Assam on Friday night, under mysterious circumstances, has created sensation throughout the garden area.

The incident has raised many an eyebrow and too many questions for what transpired late on Friday night that led to the death of 40-year-old Sandeep Tanwar, a resident of Haryana.

Sandeep Tanwar, who served in Lallong tea garden under Dewan Group of Tea Estates, lived in the quarter of Labac tea garden, a subsidiary unit of this group.

Late in the evening on Friday, he took his wife for a regular medical check-up and returned home at around 9:30 in the evening, but left home after dropping her informing that he would return back soon. But he did not return and his blood-smeared body was found around two kilometres of his quarter in between Lallong and Labac tea garden, on Saturday.

His body was found early in the morning on Saturday by local tea garden labourers who were out on duty, and informed the garden authorities as well as the police.

On reaching the spot, Cachar police without wasting much time started investigation into the whole incident and dog squad has been pressed into service to track if any leads it can provide, informed Additional Superintendent of Police, Cachar, PVV Rakesh Reddy.

Meanwhile his body has been sent for post-mortem at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

The garden authorities are tight-lipped about the whole incident and are abstaining from giving any comments to the media on this fiasco.

All the riddles and the case would be split wide open once the post-mortem report comes out for all to see, informed one close confidante of Sandeep Talwar on condition of anonymity.
