Within 24 hours of the sensational murder of a homoeopathic doctor in Jorhat on Saturday, police on Sunday arrested the killer from his residence.
Identified as Diganta Tanti, the murderer has confessed to the killing, however, he has not yet said as to why he killed the doctor.
On being asked by reporters, Tanti said that late Dr Rahul Basumatary had wronged him in some way and that is why he killed him.
On Saturday, 26-year-old homoeopathic doctor Rahul Basumatary was found murdered in his rented house in Bylane 4 of Chandan Nagar in Jorhat.
The deceased, who hailed from Udalguri, was an intern doctor at J K Memorial Homeopathic Medical College in Jorhat.
He had completed his Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery degree in 2019 from JK Memorial Homeopathic Medical College
