Guwahati: At least five individuals including a woman have been arrested by the Dispur Police in Guwahati, Assam for allegedly running a chain-snatching racket in the city.
Police said that based on a complaint filed on April 23 regarding a bag snatching case near Survey, Beltola an investigation was launched.
Based on the investigation, the police formed teams and coordinated raids in Tamulpur and Guwahati.

On Saturday, five suspects allegedly involved in the case were apprehended by the police.
The accused were identified as Rubul Ali (18) of Morigaon, Rahul Sutradhar (21) of Barpeta; Dipak Barman (18) along with his 38-year-old mother and Rahul Das (32) of Tamulpur.
The police said that Rubul Ali, Dipak Barman and Rahul Sutradhar were the masterminds of the suspected crime.

They were engaged in snatching any possible valuables they could get their hands on.
Police said that while the three would steal stuff, one of the accused, Dipak Barman along with his mother would go to Rahul Das to sell these phones and items.
The police said that Rahul Das is a mobile shop owner and allegedly deals in stolen items.
All the accused were arrested on Saturday.
The police further investigating them seized two scooters and 49 mobile phones, all suspected to be stolen.
