“We have submitted a memorandum to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma demanding that our 16-charter of demands be fulfilled. We are seeking ST status for our community, which was a long pending demand of our community,” Ranjit Gohain, president of AAMYCS, told Northeast Now.
“We urged the government to release Rs 125 crore which was sanctioned in the financial year 2019-20 for the development of our community,” he said.
“The Assam-Mizoram border issue should be solved amicably. Due to the border clash between two states, six police personnel of Assam had to sacrifice their lives. So, we urged the state government to initiate proper dialogue to solve the issue,” Gohain added.
